​ARTIST STATEMENT

My painting practice explores the emotional and psychological dimensions of landscapes. My aim is to foster a relationship between an external environment and the internal experience of the viewer. 

 

Rather than representing specific locations, I construct imagined environments through abstraction. Inspired by Canada’s natural landscape and working primarily in acrylic, I use simplified, graphic palettes framed by crisp outlines, creating an effect like stained glass or woodcut prints. The outlines separate but also unify; transforming trees, hills, and horizons into interconnected pieces of a puzzle.
