ARTIST STATEMENT
My work displays a theme of deep sea greens and sculpted florals. These interests are small elements of home. They represent my roots on the Lake Superior shores of Thunder Bay; as well as the perennial blooms from my Chelsea gardens, that never quite last long enough.
It has been over 20 years of blowing glass as a career. It started with a 3 year Crafts and Design program in 2002 at Sheridan College, specializing in Glassblowing. It brought me to the outer region of Ottawa where I taught glassblowing and sold my glass works for a great number of years in Galleries and at trade shows across Eastern Ontario. I then relocated to establish Flo Glassblowing in 2011 which ran successfully in Ottawa for 8 years before it closed to make way for what is now known as the Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op.
I currently use the space regularly to continue my passion for the medium. In addition to the hotshop, I have a small torch studio on our property in Chelsea and balance my glass life as a wife and mother of two.
