ARTIST STATEMENT
My glass work draws appreciation to sentimental ties taken between memory and nature. Deep lake blues and sculpted florals; etched by my roots along the Lake Superior shores of Thunder Bay, and the fleeting perennial blooms of my gardens in Chelsea, Quebec.
Glassblowing has been central to my life for more than two decades, beginning with focused studies at Sheridan College in 2002. Since then, my practice has evolved through teaching, exhibiting across Eastern Ontario, and founding Flo Glassblowing in 2011, which evolved to become what is now the Ottawa Glassblowing Co-op. Today, I continue to create glass work independently, making a combination of pieces both in the city co-op hotshop and my home torch studio. My hope is to evoke joy, an appreciation for craftsmanship, and meaningfulness with every piece.
