Tracy Carefoot is a mixed media artist and maker of human-scale, three-dimensional sewn and painted wildflowers. The sculptures are made from artist’s canvas; sewn, stuffed, quilted and supported by hidden wires and aluminum rods. They are prepared with gesso and painted in acrylic, inside and out, in the same way that one would create a painting. The final pieces are wall mounted and project out into the room. They are dramatic and bold “statement pieces” for a modern interior. Joyful and unique, they benefit from having space around them so they can be viewed from all sides.
Tracy works from her studio in Chelsea, Quebec where she has lived for the last 30 years. She exhibits her work in the Ottawa/Chelsea area.
