I use reclaimed or found wood as much as I can. I milled down the leftover wall logs from the log home I built to make kitchen islands, trim and shelves, vanities etc. I use skids, culled wood and sawmill offcuts whenever I come across them and sometimes mix woods within the same piece to achieve a more handmade or rustic look.

Generally I like to reduce, reuse and recycle where I can and this drives the decision making process when designing the pieces. I spent many years as a painter and I like to use paint on wood too to define texture, add vibrancy or just because I fancy it!

My partner (Carrie Leavoy, a most excellent potter also featured on the tour) collaborate on a number of projects, including back splashes, shower stall tiles, bathroom vanities - mixing clay and wood to make functional arty pieces.
