Janice Moorhead

Glass art

Janice Moorhead, an honours graduate from the University of Ottawa’s Visual Arts program, is presently well known across Canada for her unique approach to stained glass.  Through the eyes of a “painter”, in 1985 she developed a “layering” technique that eliminated the need for the traditional soldered joint. Shards of glass, sandwiched between panels of clear glass, create delicate “living/breathing” landscapes that interact with the play of light, a light which is never stagnant, but forever in a state of flux, depending on the season or the time of day.

Over the past 30 years she has exhibited her work both in galleries as well as outdoor art & craft shows. While her recent glass landscapes continue to explore the “ tree” as a motif, in 2018  she has also started to include the roots below, as well as the lovely bird dweller within.
