  • How does the tour work?
    The public is invited to visit the artist’s studio. They will be able to see how the artists work, ask questions, see the tools they use and their work up close.
  • Where are the studios located?
    Most studios are located at the artist's home. Some are coupled at the same location for logistic reasons (such as parking availability, smaller spaces or very remote locations). All locations are listed in our brochure and on our website.
  • What times can I visit the studios?
    You can visit the tour on the two advertised Saturdays and Sundays, between 10am and 5pm.
  • Who is on the tour?
    Each year hosts a wide range of wonderful artists from the region, some of which are returning and some new. The tour is juried and curated to include a diverse group of talent. You can find a list of artists in our brochures and on our website.
  • Where can I get a brochure?
    Brochures are available at local businesses in the region starting in September. You can also pick one up at the Tourisme Outaouais office (103 Laurier St, Gatineau, Quebec).
  • Can I purchase art from the artist? What payment methods are available?
    Yes! Art will be available to purchase from the artists. Cash is always accepted, however some artists will also accept credit cards and cheques
  • Is there parking available?
    Yes. All locations have parking.
  • What if I want to buy art after the Tour is over?
    You can contact the artist directly to discuss purchases or commissions.
  • Are there washrooms available?
    As most studios are located directly in the artist’s home, they do have washrooms. Please ask for permission and be respectful of their space.
  • What can I expect at an artist's Studio?
    Each artist sets up their studio and exhibit differently. Along with their display of artwork, you may be able to see their workspace, and special tools , or equipment, they use for their craft. You will also have a chance to speak to the artist directly and ask questions about their creative process.
  • Who runs the Tour?
    The Chelsea Wakefield Studio Tour is an artist-run collective. Important tasks are divided into teams (such as marketing, recruitment, sponsorship, social media, signage etc.), all of which are essential in the tour's success.
  • Is there an admission or cost to do the tour?
    Nope! The tour is absolutely free. We rely on artist fees, sponsors & grants to pay for the cost of running each tour. Our loyal and generous group of sponsors support the tour and advertise in our brochures. We are very grateful and couldn’t do it without them!
  • Where do I start the tour and do I have to go to each studio?
    You can start wherever you would like. You do not have to visit all the studios, however you are welcome to do so. We suggest taking note of the artists you are interested in and then simply refer to our map to select a starting point and create a convenient driving route.
  • How long does it take if I choose to see the whole tour?
    The amount of time spent on the tour is completely up to you! You can visit a few studios in one day, or stretch it out over the entire weekend. Consider taking in the local region and beautiful sites. We encourage you to visit many of the wonderful restaurants, cafes and B&B’s in the area to accommodate you during your visit.
